Why Yoga Retreats are Different (and often better!) than Regular Holidays

We love every type of getaway, from foodie explorations to adventure holidays and family trips - it all has value - however, when it comes to a true reset, lasting transformation and soul nourishment, a Yoga Retreat offers much more than a regular holiday. Here’s 3 reasons why:

1. Mental & Physical Health - On holiday, we tend to overindulge on drinks, food, busyness, or inactivity. This is great fun (which is important) BUT, overindulgence can leave us feeling heavy, drained and unhealthy. Often we return home feeling just as exhausted, like we need to detox, and depressed we're back to the grind! On retreat, we are nourished with amazing healthy food, adequate activity & rest, healthy fun and inspiring practices. Upon return, we feel vibrant, recharged, renewed, and like we've 'up-levelled' our life.

2. Reset for Burnout - The planning & execution of a holiday is another task on our to-do list. With meals & activities to organise, a range of personalities to consider, a need to experience it all.....it's just more distraction from the whispers of our heart & soul. On Retreat - everything is taken care of, you don't need to lift a finger, everything is optional (at least, on Flow Collective retreats) and you're encouraged to take whatever you need from every moment. This gives us time & space to release stress, process emotions, check in with ourselves and realign with truth, purpose & priorities.

3. Inspiration - Yoga retreats provide a much needed escape from everyday life, yet simultaneously, the activities, conversations, and company are thought-provoking, uplifting, honest, and real. We leave feeling inspired, clear, balanced, and ready to return to our responsibilities with fresh perspective & a full energetic tank.

I can’t speak for all Yoga retreats, but at Flow Collective Yoga (based in Wollongong, Australia) we design our Yoga retreats very carefully, to guide guests through a transformative journey. Every practice, discussion and activity is curated in a specific order, to create increased awareness, expanded consciousness, an opportunity for shedding energy or stories that are keeping us stuck, and nurturing seeds of intention towards our personal peace, happiness and highest potential.

The path of Yoga has so much juicy depth to it, unfortunately we can barely scratch the surface in a regular group class. Ours Yoga retreat offer the opportunity to learn, deepen your practice, connect to your own aligned inner truth, and set you on a pathway towards your most regulated, authentic and aligned expression of yourself.

If you’re craving a reset and time just for YOU, we’ve got two amazing retreats coming up (and always more in the works!), you can check out our existing retreats on pages listed below, or send an email if you’d like to be added to our newsletter for future events.
